George Relias was retained to evaluate and appeal the assessment for a shopping center known as the Town Center Promenade in Deer Park, IL (Lake County). After reviewing the property and studying the Plat of Survey, it was determined at a significant portion of the excess land was encumbered by a Conservation Easement. George researched the statues relating to such easements and determined that a portion of the Shopping Center property could benefit from an application of this statute. Evidence was gathered, and an application made to reduce the level of assessment on the Conservation Easement from 33.33% to 8.33% in perpetuity.
